About me

About me

Welcome to the photo site or blog site of Ron Maliepaard!

Directly to my

I like to photograph (for years) and in particular (small) animals and flowers. I’ve always had a preference for the small stuff, such as butterflies, dragonflies and beetles, and I also long for autumn every year so that I can pick mushrooms again. It will also be because of my training (in the distant past) as a biology teacher. And what also attracts me is walking through nature, wonderfully relaxing through the greenery, surrounded by fluttering butterflies, the sound of birds and the peace (yes even in the Netherlands).

Nowadays I shoot with a Sony A6000 and usually with a Laowa 65mm macro lens. Quite a journey, because everything is manual with this and I have no image stabilization at all. And usually I don’t use a tripod.

For macro photography I do use a simple Godox TT350 flash with a handmade diffuser (that’s that brown horn, made from a Cruesli box, silver foil, tape and a piece of semi-permeable plastic, always a nice topic of conversation when I’m shooting outside. 😁).

Ever since I got that Laowa 65mm macro lens, I have become unstoppable and I am constantly amazed at how beautiful and diverse it is in that small world. And the Corona crisis also brought me to explore my small garden and see how amazingly many species live in that small piece of nature!

In the meantime I took quite a few photos and thought it was time to do something with them. That is why I started to put part of the photo mountain on this site (see my photo albums), I use jAlbum as a basis. Most will concern nature photos, but I will also post photos of other (for me) nice subjects. I have also recently started drawing and painting again, I will also show images of that. Some photos can also be found on my instagram and facebook page.

Perhaps my photos will also inspire others to get started with (nature) photography.

And yes, I immediately try to make my photos so that they are (technically) good, but edit my photos anyway (regularly) and I do that with ACDSee Photo Studio Ultimate 2021.

And why am I editing? First of all, because I shoot my photos in RAW, you have to run them through a photo editing program. But also because you sometimes want a photo to be more than just the good picture. And in nature you don’t always (or never?) have exactly the image you have in your head. It is therefore nice to make an even more beautiful image of your own photo. I do like to be creative. I used to paint with an airbrush, now with light and ACDSee!

Note: My photos on this site are copyrighted. This means that I, the creator of the photos, have the exclusive right to publish and reproduce these photos (copyright).
Use without permission is therefore not allowed. But using the photos is allowed, but please contact me first, that’s so nice.

Furthermore, I have put things on this site that I personally find fun and useful to remember/collect. For example, you will also find a number of collected recipes, but also tips and tricks (including about photography, photo editing) and links that I came across and found useful.
Feel free to use these yourself.
