Who doesn’t know those usually cheerful and friendly black/brown and white dogs. It is a breed from the sheepdog group. Well known for herding sheep in England, but you can also see them in the Netherlands and other countries. With whistles and commands from the shepherd you see them flying back and forth around sheep to bring/keep them to the flock and direct the sheep in a certain direction. And then flat on the ground again when the ‘Down’ signal sounds. I always find that a very nice face.
An acquaintance of mine also has a border collie, Kyra. I like to portray them (I like challenges…). It is a female, they are usually smaller than the males. But she is a bossy type. Another dog comes regularly, I think a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, a dog I don’t like at all. But don’t think this strong, hefty dog has anything to say near Kyra! No, she does suit her. Now Kyra also means ‘Lord’ among other things. So she lives up to that name. But she also honors the other meaning ‘Sun’, because it is a sweet dog.
Do you know:
The Border Collie is a breed of dog originating from the area between England and Scotland: the Borders. And Collie means Sheepdog. So basically a border collie is nothing but herding dog originating from the Borders.
